THE indestructible Doctor Who takes a last trip in the Tardis tonight—in his present form, that is.
For actor Tom Baker is hanging up his 22ft.-long scarf and floppy hat after tonight's episode, (BBC1. 5.10).
But as all fans know, it is impossible for Doctor Who to die. After all, he has two hearts, a body temperature of 60 degrees Farenheit, and is already 700 years old.
So when the BBC's top science fiction show returns to the screen, the new and fifth Doctor Who will be in the form of actor Peter Davison, who shot to fame as TV vet Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great And Small.
Peter, 29 and married to delectable Sandra Dickinson, the St. Bruno advert girl, is the youngest, least eccentric and tastiest Doctor Who yet.
He has starred in plays and in his own TV comedy series, Holding The Fort, as well as the BBC 1 fun show Sink Or Swim.
Now comes an entirely new challenge—and a place in the Doctors' Who's Who along with the late William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker.
Pop-eyed Baker, 6ft 3in, has played the good doctor for six years.
He announced he was quitting the role last year, and recently married former Doctor Who assistant Romana (actress Lalla Ward).
