[edit]

FOR 19 light entertainment years and an infinity of inter-galactic miles Dr Who has survived the fiendish ministrations of Cyberman, Dalek, Voc, Voord and Wala.

But now the intrepid time lord has been laid low by a new enemy that is causing shudders in the TV centre.

I refer to the fearsome Dirgendes, the Director-General Designate, otherwise known as Alasdair Milne.

When the wan-faced Dirgendes walked the BBC's everlasting corridors as Mandirtel (Managing Director Television), it was he who was ultimately responsible for the act of mindless sacrilege which moved Dr Who from his traditional Saturday slot out into the dismal wastes of of Monday and Tuesday.
