DR WHO cheated time again today—by apparently appearing five times on the lawns of a Buckinghamshire country mansion. Three doctors were originals —the actors Patrick Trough-ton, Jon Pertwee and Peter Davison.
One was a Madame Tussauds wax model—of Tom Baker, the longest serving Doctor.
The fifth was Richard Hurndall, a lookalike of the late William Hartnell the first Doctor.
The reunion marked the first day of filming of "The Five Doctors," which the BBC plans to semen as near as possible to November 23, the series' 20th anniversary date.
The programme still attracts 98-million viewers in 38 countries, nearly ten-million of them in Britain.
The doctors and other characters in the series got an airing today, but there was not a Dalek or a Cyberman in sight.
Programme producer John Nathan-Turner was keeping quiet about what monsters from space settlements would be defeated by the doctors.
Gripped
The absence today of Tom Baker was because: "He has other commitments and is not available to play in this production."
He will appear, though, through sequences shot for a series that never appeared because of a BBC strike.
With the doctors was Carole Ann Ford, who played the Doctor's granddaughter, Susan. in the first episode.
She was joined by Elisabeth Sladen, who, as Sarah Jane Smith, was one of the Doctor's companions.
