Dealers sought a piece of the action after Escape Hunt, the entertainment network offering "escape the room" adventures, signed a licence deal with BBC Studios to create Doctor Who-therned escape rooms in Britain (Louisa Clarence-Smith writes). The Aim-listed company rose 2%p to 116%p after announcing the five-year exclusive agreement.
The rise came despite a downbeat trading statement, which said that a revised opening schedule for new rooms after delays in selecting set-build contractors, coupled with holding back spare rooms for the new partnership, would hit performance in the current year.
An escape room is an adventure game in which players are locked in a themed room and have to find clues and solve puzzles to escape.
The company was founded in Thailand in 2013. Since then it has grown into a branch network in 27 countries. Escape Hunt will open the first of the Doctor Who rooms in December after the autumn launch of the new TV series, above.
