THE Daleks are heading for Earth — and they could soon be lurking in a living room near you!
The fearsome foes of Dr Who — who gave generations of children nightmares with their cries of Exterminate! Exterminate! — are on sale for the first time.
And showbiz stars like comic Harry Hill and rocker Liam Howlett of The Prodigy are among hundreds of people queuing up to buy one.
The 5ft 3in Daleks are being made to order under licence from the BBC.
They come mounted on wheels in a fetching black and silver or grey and black veneer and proud owners can even clamber inside to control the alien's movement.
The idea to produce the glass fibre fiends was the brainwave of Ian Clarke, a former civil servant at the Ministry of Defence.
His company, Planet Earth Ltd, of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, is marketing them at £1,495 each.
The Beeb picks up an undisclosed royalty from each sale.
So far 120 have been produced and there is a waiting list of six weeks.
Ian, 37, said: "It is because Daleks are so menacing that people love them."
