A popular DOCTOR WHO companion, Janet Fielding, will be making her northwest Ohio debut as the Doctor Who Celebration and Tour conies to the WBGU-TV studio in Bowling Green On June 6 and 7. The tour has been organized by Lionheart Television International--the British Broadcasting Corporation in America—in support of the BBC's successful TV series, DOCTOR WHO, which can be seen Fridays at 9 p.m. on WBGU-TV 27.

The 24-year old show is the longest running science fiction series in TV history., It is seen in the U.S. on over 180 public TV stations with a worldwide viewing audience of over 110 million in 60 countries. The show features an eccentric character called "Doctor Who," played by a series of seven actors over the years, who enjoys adventure in time and space with a host of colorful Companions. One of these Companions is "Tegan," a brash and assertive individual played by Australian Janet Fielding.

Fielding performed in several London theaters, including Ken Campbell's Science Fiction Theater, before landing the part of the Australian air stewardess, Tegan, in DOCTOR WHO. She played the role for three years, starting with Tom Baker's Doctor at the end of 1980 and finishing with Peter Davison, the fifth doctor, in 1983.

Fielding will be hosting question and answer sessions followed by autograph signings on both days of the tour. Video documentaries on the series and tour will be shown, along with new merchandise and collectibles.

Another tour component is the 48-foot exhibition trailer, an "experience theater on wheels," that features the show's most famous villains and

monsters with special effect lighting, animation and sound, Visitors enter the exhibit by walking through a TARDIS—the Doctor's time traveling craft forever locked into the shape of an old English police call box. They then pass a mock-up of the ship's control panel before entering into an illusion of space within which the figures are displayed.

Exhibition hours will be noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 1:30 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. A special costume contest will take place on Saturday at 3:30, with prizes going to the best Doctor Whos, his Companions, and villains or monsters from the series. Raffle prizes will be given throughout both days.

Tickets will be on sale the days of the event only and will be $5 for WBGU-TV members and Bowling Green State University students, $7.50 for others. j Children five and under will be admitted free. For more information call Paula Davis at (419) 372- weekdays between 8 am. and 5 p.m.
