Fans of Doctor Who take note! The Doctor Who National Tour will be arriving in Des Moines at the Iowa Public Television Broadcast Center for performances on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday. August 2. The sophisticated mobile exhibition has been built by the BBC in support of the television phenomenon Doctor Who. In its 24th year, Doctor Who is the longest running science fiction show in television history and the most successful British export ever.

The exhibit features all the famous monsters and villains from the program, and are housed in a 48-foot trailer. The figures are brought to life through various lighting and sound special effects and animation.

Visitors enter the exhibition by walking through a Tardis - the Doctor's time traveling craft, forever locked in the shape of an old English police call box. They will see a mock-up of the ship's control panel before entering into an illusion of space within which the figures are displayed.

Also present will be one of the actors on the series to preside over the program consisting of 90-minutes of Doctor Who documentaries, a question and answer period and an autograph session.

The Iowa Public Televison Broadcast Center is conveniently located one mile north of the intersection of I-80 and Merle Hay Road in Johnston, Iowa. The exhibition will be open to the public from 12:00-8:00 Saturday, August 1 and from 12:00-6:00 Sunday, August 2.
