TV doctor Peter is a dad

PLAYING Dr Who on TV didn't teach actor Peter Davison much about medicine.

But his role as a vet in All Creatures Great and Small came in handy when his actress wife Sandra Dickinson gave birth to their first baby on Christmas Day.

Peter said yesterday: "I was in at several births in the series so I knew exactly what to do.

"I kept patting Sandra's head and saying, 'Come on old girl, you can do it'."

And at four minutes past midnight baby Georgia arrived.

Now Sandra is hoping to take her home from Queen Charlotte's Hospital London, to Wey bridge, Surrey, in time to celebrate New Year.

GREAT AND SMALL: Peter and Sandra show off baby Georgia in hospital.
