WOMEN'S rights campaigners want the neat Dr Who to be female.
Labour Euro-MPs claim that the change would help to break down barriers to women.
The latest actor to play Or Who, Colin Baker, is leaving the role after a three-year stint. Yesterday members of an EEC women's rights committee, meeting in London, wrote to BBC director general Alasdair Milne saying: 'It Is high time a woman played the part. Children have for years seen a man as the high-tech wizard with women as mere assistants.'
The statement was signed by London Euro-MPS Carole Tongue and Mike Elliot, Christine Crawley of Birmingham and Eddy Newman of Manchester.
