Despite announcements in the "Radio Times" and on the television screen that there would be no episode of "Dr. Who," the science-fiction serial which has a tremendous, following among children, the B.B.C. Northern Ireland switchboard received seven calls on Saturday asking what had happened to the programme.

Some were from children, others from parents.

A B.B.C. official said that it had been decided to drop "Dr. Who" from the afternoon programmes because-of the pressure of sport. Wimbledon, the Test match and Henley were covered by television cameras.

"The serial will go on as usual next Saturday," he said.

The official mentioned that there were protests also from cricket enthusiasts, who thought that there was too much time given to lawn tennis and from others who considered that cricket was unduly favoured.
