[edit]

Have a guess who's wearing a heavy English tweed coat and long scarf in Sydney's stifling heat and who attracts crowds like a cult figure.

None other than that curly-haired gentleman with a Liverpool accent who calls himself Dr Who, who is visiting Sydney's Grace Bros stores.

Tom Baker, who plays the Doctor in one of the ABC's longest running serials, has taken a trip from his Tardis.

He will be at Warringah Mall at 4 pm today. and at the Bondi Junction store at 6.30.

Unlike the Daleks the Doctor has found the foreigners of these far shores very friendly!

He has been inundated with gifts from children and spent hours signing autographs.

"I'm amazed with the response. I had no idea I was so popular in Australia," he said.
