ACTOR Roger Delgado—best known as TV's super-baddy, The Master, in "Dr. Who"—has been killed in a car crash in Turkey.
Delgado, who was fifty-five, was on his way to a film location when his chauffeur-driven car overturned at a sharp corner.
He was in Turkey to make a comedy film for French T V. His last appearance as The Master was in March this year after dogging his enemy Dr. Who, on and off for three years.
Delgado, born in London of French and Spanish parents, was seen last night in a repeat on BBC-2 of "The Adventured of Don Quixote," starring as The Monk.
Last week he finished filming an episode in the ATV series. "The Zoo Gang," due to be shown in the autumn.
He once said that his dark foreign looks and his beard helped to keep him in work as a villain, yet in earlier days he played a lot of saints.
His film appearances included "Khartoum" and Antony and Cleopatra."
