I am a fairly large fan of "Dr. Who," and I am now an avid fan of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" ... the TV series, the movies, the books and the computer game. Is there any chance that the movies could be shown on ABC, CBS or NBC? Also, I was wondering if the public television stations in this area — WYES in New Orleans, and WMAH, part of the Mississippi ETV network — would be showing "Hitchhiker," and if a sequel to the computer game Is planned. Also, how much trouble would it be for the local Fox affiliate, MOW (In Biloxi, Miss.) to carry the "Hitchhiker" movies?

Gee whiz . .. one would get the impression that we're dealing with a real devotee here, wouldn't one? While this query gets a little more particular on a local level than most questions we deal with, it does address a larger issue that applies to other "Dr. Who" and "Hitchhiker" fans around the country.

Sort of unofficially, those programs have become the fairly exclusive domain of public-television stations around America, so it's highly unlikely that any of the networks (or even a Fox affiliate) would show them. As for the computer game, we have absolutely no idea if a followup edition is in the works, but here are the addresses for the various stations you mentioned, so that you can inquire directly about their status in regard to "Hitchhiker": WYES, 916 Navarre Ave., P.O. Box 24026, New Orleans, LA 70184; WMAH, P.O. Box 1101, Jackson, MS 39215 (that's the main address for all PBS stations on that state's ETV system); and WXXV, Highway 49 North, P.O. Box 2500, Gulfport, MS 39505. Good luck.
