Person of the Month: Pearl Mackie
As we write, the new series of Doctor Who hasn't yet hit TV screens, but we're already smitten with Bill Potts, his new assistant, played by the fabulous Pearl Mackie. "Yeah, Bill's gay," the 29-year-old from Brixton said matter-of-factly when asked about her new role. While Mackie doesn't think Potts' sexuality should be a big deal, she also knows the value of representation, going on to say: "I remember watching TV as a young, mixed-race girl, not seeing many people who looked like me, so I think being able to recognise yourself on screen is important". We couldn't agree more.
