[edit]

JON PERTWEE is to be the new Dr. Who when BBC-1's long-running children's serial returns--in colour--next January. He will be the third Dr. Who since the serial began in November, 1963, with William Hartnell in the title rôle. Since November, 1966. the part has been played by Patrick Troughton, who made his final appearance in the serial last week-end.

For the last three years, Jon Pertwee has been in the West End and on Broadway starring in There's A Girl In My Soup, and Oh Clarence. He has also worked in cabaret in Middlesborough and in the Dorchester Hotel in London. His wide range of accents and voices earned him the title of the man of a thousand voices, and he was one of the original members of the radio programme. The Navy Lark, which started in 1962.

The producer of Dr. Who in colour will again be Peter Bryant.
