Casanova star to be new Time Lord

THE actor being lined up as the next Doctor Who is the star of raunchy drama Casanova.
Heart-throb David Tennant is currently playing the legendary lover who wooed women across 18th-century Europe.
Now David. 33. is tipped to replace Christopher Eccleston. who has shocked BBC bosses by saying he does not want to make another series of the relaunched Doctor Who.
Chris, 41, who made his name in serious dramas, is said to have feared being typecast if he played the Time Lord too long — saying the role could be a "poisoned chalice".
He is also said to have found it "draining" to shoot the 13 episodes of the first series back to back.
Both Casanova and Doctor Who have been penned by the same writer. Russell T Davies.
Last night a BBC spokesman confirmed: "Chris will not be returning to Doctor Who. We are in discussions with David Tennant about taking on the role."
Audience
Chris's decision to quit was a bitter blow for the BBC, who spent millions bringing the show back after 16 years.
And it came despite the relaunch exterminating ITV 1 rivals Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway with an audience of ten million.
Chris told The Sun: "The response has been incredible and I hope viewers enjoy it."
Billie Piper will continue as the Doctor's assistant Rose.
