OUTRAGEOUS comic Alexei Sayle is net to become the new Dr Who, it was revealed last night.

The outspoken "alternative" comedian is top of the BBC's shopping list for new actors to play TV's time traveller.

The current Dr Who—flamboyant star Colin Baker—has quit the role after a wrangle over a new contract.

Last night, a BBC insider said "Alexei is not such a strange choice as it might seem."
