I'LL shed no tears for Dr Who. The Tardis tripper is a has-been in a world of Star Wars, Star Trek and Gremlins. He's a faded, jaded, regenerated bore who lost his magical powers years ago.
And BBC 1 boss Michael Grade was right, for once, to boot him into outer space.
Gone are the good old days when we all used to fight for a hidey-hole behind the curtains as the Time Lord faced the terrors of the universe.
Now a nation of dads sit glued to the telly with raised blood pressure as the cleavage on Colin Baker's assistant Peri (Nicola Bryant) sinks perilously lower.
What a come-down from the Jon Pertwee era when girls wore high-necked blouses and sensible shoes.
The monsters aren't as scary as they used to be and the Doctor is no longer a man of mystery.
They should have called time on Dr Who three re-generations ago.
Transport him to a black hole and leave him there.
