CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON has quit Doctor Who after only one episode of the new series has been broadcast.
The actor, 41, decided not to renew his contract, telling BBC bosses that shooting the first 13 episodes back-to-back was "draining". He also feared being typecast if he played the part for too long. His decision comes four days after the first episode won 10 million viewers. Casanova star David Tennant, 33, is tipped to replace him.
