[edit]

NEW Doctor Matt Smith unveiled his eccentric makeover yesterday as the TIE Lord.

He has opted to wear a bow-tie and tweed jacket for the role.

The 26-year-old has just started filming the new series of the BBC show.

And gone are David Tennant's long coat, blue suits and plimsolls. In their place, Smith will sport a red dickie-bow, tweed jacket and black boots.

Future

He will be joined in the Tardis by Scottish actress Karen Gillan, 21, who will be his sidekick Amy Pond. The newly-regenerated Doc will meet her in the first episode of the new series next spring.

And it seems the Time Lord will be reunited with an old face, his wife-in-the-future River Song, played by Alex Kingston, 46.

The ER star, who appeared in last year's series, was caught on camera yesterday during filming.
