Peter Davison was born in Streatham, south London, in 1951 and has three sisters. The 48-year-old star of All Creatures Great and Small and Doctor Who would have gone into teaching if he'd applied himself at school. "I just couldn't be bothered, though," he says candidly. As it happens, Peter drifted into acting by way of drama school. After an acrimonious divorce from actress Sandra Dickinson, Peter is now happily involved with another actress, Lizzie Morton, and the couple have a 10-month-old son, Louie. Peter is currently starring in ITV's hit drama series, At Home with the Braithwaites, playing the husband of a reluctant lottery winner.

"Here I am at three months old, being christened in the family gown. Mum and Dad were great. Sadly, Dad died a week before my son, Louie, was born. He had Parkinson's disease. We knew he wouldn't get better, but it was still a shock. Mum was a typical mum. She didn't work and tea was always ready when I came home from school."

"I was 15 years old here and. boy. didn't I look cool! This was taken when I was still at school and all I can remember from when we were having the photos done was that the photographer kept telling me to lean forward. I thought I looked really great with my hair brushed forward — very mod!"

"This is me with my partner, Lizzie. I wasn't looking for anybody when I met her. A friend set us up. He got us to a restaurant, then claimed he had to leave, so we were left alone. That was four years ago."

"I'm a bit anti-marriage after two divorces, but fortunately Lizzie is happy with things as we are. This is Lizzie with Georgia, my daughter from my marriage to Sandra Dickinson. Fortunately they get on really well. as you can see from this photo."

"This was a typical night out at my friend David's house. I was at drama school and a normal student — all drinking and no work. I went to drama school rather than university because you didn't have to work!"
