Lorraine Heggessey has ordered a news series of the sci-fi favourite, to air some time in 2005, and has drafted in Queer as Folk's Russell T Davies to script the show. Davies, a life-long fan of the show, has famously turned the Doctor's robotic dog K-9 into a gay icon in his series, but the real controversy surrounds just who will get to play Who? Names being touted for the role include Bill Nighy, Jonathan Pryce and Richard E Grant, and there are a handful of potentially provocative names in the mix in the shape of Maggie Smith and Lenny Henry. And the bookies' choice? Jonathan Creek star Alan Davies.
