DR WHO is now being played strictly for laughs by both the scriptwriters and Sylvester McCoy who is proving to be an admirable Doctor.
In the latest spiffing adventure, a team of space-funsters set out on a nostalgia trip through time in a space charabanc, back to 1959 and the Shangri-La holiday camp. In their number is a lady bearing a big silver egg, out of which a green slimy thing is hatching.
Out in space, meanwhile, Ken Dodd's teeth were rivalling the Doctor's. He played a silver-suited organiser of the nostalgia trips. 'Played' is perhaps an exaggeration — Doddy remained his stage persona.
Anyway, he died after 20 minutes. Can't have been the first time.
