"Dr Who and The Daleks" is based on the very popular television serial by Terry Nation, and this science-fiction adventure comes to the big screen as an all action yarn that must have tremendous A.B.C. appeal for young and old alike, with the considerable added advantage of colour. Dr. Who himself is played by Peter Cushing and the character emerges as a likeably eccentric old scientist Ian is played by the highly talented Roy Castle, and his comic capabilities lighten the tension without destroying the excitement in which the picture abounds.
The girls, Jennie Linden and Roberta Tovey do quite well in this strictly male world, while Barrie Ingham, Geoffrey Toone and others impersonate the handsomely blond Thals who do violent battle with the Daleks.
The all-metal city of the Daleks with its fascinating "scientific" trimmings and its electronically-operated sliding doors, is a marvel of ingenuity. In fact the production values of this picture are beyond reproach.
