DR WHO may come and go in many forms but the Daleks, it seems, go on for ever.
You'd think these gravel-toned tin terrors with their wobbly voices and sink plungers, which first scared -the pants off young viewers a good 20 years ago, would be too old-fashioned to excite today's youthful sophisticates. But no.
The Daleks are ready and waiting in the wings to return to the new two-part story beginning tomorrow, when Colin Baker and his nubile assistant land on the planet Necros pay last respects to an old friend.
Necros has two industries, one producing synthetic protein, the other servicing a giant repository known as "Tranquil Repose," where the preserved remains of the dead from many galaxies are stored until cures are found for the diseases which killed them!
What the Doctor doesn't know is that the dreaded Davros has taken over "Tranquil Repose" and is using it as a cover to produce more Daleks.

If Dr Who does disappear from the screen as threatened, it won't be for lack of guests
The cast for this story includes Alexei Sayle and Eleanor Bron, which suggests more than a hint of comic relief in the sci-fi — if you don't already count the Daleks.
Meanwhile fans shwa take heart from BBC Controller, Michael Grade's, response to letters in this week's "Radio Times." He says reaction to his plans to suspend the programme "bordering on the hysterical." And he reassures viewers that after a "good rest" the BBC wants Dr Who to run for another 21 year, His reply published on the the same page as 10 letters about the programme only one of which a giving the Doctor a break.
