Here's my hot list of the people how can take over from Tennant
SO David Tennant is calling it a day and the bookies are going doolally trying to spot the next one.
They have about half a dozen in the frame ranging from Sean Pertwee, son of Jon Pertwee (who was actually the third Doctor) to Jimmy Nesbitt who left me needing a doctor when I tried partying with him earlier this year.
But what about the outsiders? Check the list of Honorary Doctorates at any of the Universities and you'll find plenty of them out there.
Jimmy Nesbitt himself is already a well deserved Doctor of Letters (NUU) for his contributions to Drama, but what about Doctor Bertie Ahern (QUB) who could slip out of many a sticky situation and is still proving to be very hard to pin down.
Doctor George W Bush (Yale) could deliver body blows like: "There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me...you can't get fooled again."
While Davros is standing around with his mouth open trying to figure gems like that out, Doctor Bush could have him invaded and shipped off to Guantanamo, for as he says, we are ready for any unforeseen event which may or may not happen.
Or Dr Tony Blair (QUB) could blind the opposition with his gleaming smile and know when to get out just before the going gets tough or maybe just get the wife to scare them off.
Dr Hillary Clinton is an honorary Doctor of Medicine granted by Swedish Goteborg University.
The former First Lady proved she is quite prepared to take on anyone: "If I didn't kick his ass every day, he [Bill] wouldn't be worth anything." Ah, the gentle touch.
What about Doctor Ian Paisley, ex-First Minister and ex-DUP party leader, perhaps he could be coaxed out of retirement, even in his golden years in a row between a Dalek a Cyberman and The Good Doctor, I know where I'd be putting my money (if he allowed betting that is).
And while we are in that camp - although the wife of the present incumbent of the first ministerial post isn't a Doctor herself - rumour has it that Iris Robinson is the very gal who would be able to recommend one. Now where did I put my sonic screwdriver?
