ANYONE for interplanetary five-a-side football? That is one of the attractions at Britain's first open air Sci-Fi Festival, taking place at Windsor Racecourse on Saturday. Dr Who will be present, flanked by Daleks, and a team of science fiction writers will be on hand to meet their fans.

Almost every facet of the sci-fi obsession has a place at this event, from the serious UFO - watching of the Aetherium Society to the synthetic creations of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Such earthly sustenance as beer and fish and chips will be available, and the gates open at noon. Admission is £1 for adults, 50p for children and OAPs. Further information from the organisers, Windsor Arts Centre, at Windsor 68079.

Artist Benedict Rubbra is well aware that art and food mix deliciously well. This weekend he is opening his studio in the grounds of his Chilterns cottage to exhibit his latest works.

To encourage Londoners to visit the exhibition he is also inviting viewers to use the grounds of the cottage—complete with rural delights of chicken, sheep and goats—as a picnic spot.

The exhibition is open Saturday and Sunday from 10-6 at Valley Cottage, Speen, Aylesbury, Bucks.
