We are in danger of becoming like the Daleks in Dr Who. They, you will remember, had such brilliant brains that they had dispensed with bodies altogether and went round in metal cones. Their cunning was fiendish, but they were Incapable of walking upstairs.
If we get a stock market crash soon it will not be because the world's dealers have taken leave of their senses, but because sonic incompetent engineer has pressed the wrong button.
