THERE will be some strange-looking animals roaming the streets of Belfast tomorrow.
The two camels strolling past the City Hall may cause a ripple of surprise.
The camels and the dog are exhibits for this year's Lord Mayor's Show, which has the theme "Tomorrow's Belfast."
The camels are real-entered by Ballynafeight and South Belfast Community Centre with the aid of Fossetts Circus.
Youth Club
The dog is a model of Dr. Who's celebrated pet, K-9, the work of Sydenham Youth Club.
This will be their first entry in the show, organised by the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber member, Mr. Denis McCarron, revealed today that 60 floats will be taking part more-than last year.
The parade leaves Striaimillis Embankment at 2.15 p.m. and will be led by the massed bands and drums of the UDR. Twenty other bands will also be taking part.
Belfast's outgoing Lord Mayor, Councillor James Stewart, will ride in the Chamber's landau and on his arrival at the City Hail there will be a flypast by aircraft from Shorts.
Glamour
Providing the glamour will be Festival Queen Anne Thompson from Templepatrick.
A new category in this year's show "The Quality of Life" will give a boost to some organisations.
Those qualifying are allowed a free entry and will also get a "substantial grant towards their float. Winner receives the UTV trophy.
Taking part will be the Northern Ireland Committee for the Handicapped, Northern Ireland Kidney Research, War on Want, Blind Centre for Northern Ireland, Radio Royal. Girls' Brigade, Girl Guides, South Belfast Community Association and various schools.
Caption: The largest dog in Belfast and he's called "Cedric." Walking him will be girls from Ashfield Girls' Secondary School gymnastics team. Pictured with "Cedric" are Fiona Williamson, Sally Wilson and Jean Morrell.
