Who'll be the new Doctor Who? That's the question fans of the long-running television fantasy series "Doctor Who" are asking themselves after the actor David Tennant announced that he would not play the time-traveling Doctor in the next season of the series, scheduled for 2010. "This show has been so special to me," Mr. Tennant, left, said in an announcement released by the BBC, which produces "Doctor Who." "I don't want to outstay my welcome." (The show is broadcast in the United States on the Sci Fi Channel and BBC America.) Mr. Tennant took over the role in 2005, inheriting it from Christopher Eccleston, the ninth actor to officially play the Doctor in the show's 45-year history. Russell T Davies, the executive producer of the latest "Doctor Who" series, previously announced his retirement from the show.
