[edit]

IT WOULD TAKE a lot to frighten Roberta Tovey. She's growing up in a tough space-age world. And she's already the brightest little star in space.

Her co-space stars are tin-canned monsters, which bleep and flash their way through space while hollow, metallic voices threaten to exterminate champion anyone who strays across their path.

And quite often that's Roberta. Yes Roberta, a pupil of the Corona Stage School, is Susan, the little girl who appears with Dr. Who in the Dalek films.

But Roberta, of Shepherds Bush, is no longer helping to crush the invasions of the Daleks. She has stepped off the liberating time-machine and joined the world of television comedy.

She is now the little straight girl who can be seen almost every week in B.B.C 2's "Before the Fringe." But Roberta, a great little song-and-dance gal, is still going back in time with the programme's new slant on old shows.
