Not universally, though. One of the major plus-points of the old Dr Who series was it always looked as if it had been filmed in somebody's garage. The cornflake-carton technology was part of the charm, as were the cute Planet Polystyrene sets of Star Trek. Sci-fi epics with snazzy special-effects are all very well but they can come across as all hologram and no heart. And what will Spielberg do with the Tardis? The mind boggles. }}
