VISITORS to a Black Country art gallery could be in for quite a fright following an Invasion of monsters.

But the loathsome creatures at Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery are all fictional characters from BBC's Dr Who series.

The monsters, including a home-made Dalek, form part of a Dr Who exhibition at the art gallery in Holy. head Road until June 15.

The exhibition, opened by actress Sophie Aldred, who played Dr Who's assistant Ace in the last series, has been Jointly organised by Wolverhampton fan club, The Wolves of Fenric.

Sophie is pictured showing 12-year-old Clare Davies & Dalek.

Museum assistant Francesca Wagstaff said: "Most of the memorabilia on show has come from fan club members, but we have had to borrow the monster costumes and masks from a comic shop. The Dalek has been made by members of the fan club."

With the BBC still to decide whether to bring Dr Who back to TV screens, the series' popularity was underlined by a recent auction at which original Daleks sold for more than £6,000 each.
