[edit]

Winners of the overall best float contest were St. Luke's School, Bournemouth, with a Dr. Who spectacular organised by the Parents', Teachers' and Friends' Association.

It was the first time they had entered the carnival and weeks of hard work went into their float which was based on the BBC's Dr. Who manual. Dr. Who was played by Alan Dunesby of Frampton Road, Winton, whose two children, Alison and Ian, are pupils at St. Luke's.
