YOUNG Nicola Bryant could hardly believe her luck when she stepped straight out of drama school into a choice TV role.
"I didn't even expect to get auditioned, let alone land the job," she said.
Nicola plays the Doctor's new assistant, a botany student called Peri, in the latest DOCTOR WHO (BBC-1, 6.40).
"It is my very first acting job and all my mistakes are there for all to see," says Nicola, who found herself on location in Lanzarote for the four-part adventure called Planet of Fire.
"I don't have much to wear for the first couple of episodes apart from a bikini, a pair of shorts and a little blouse that ties at the neck." Tonight the doctor (Peter Davison) meets up with Peri and her stepfather, Professor Foster (Dallas Adams), after getting a distress signal from a mystery island.
