This is the weekend "Doctor Who" fans have been waiting for A "Doctor Who" convention is being held in Tampa Saturday and Sunday and should have something to offer for all Polk County Whovians.
Episodes of the long-running British science fiction television series will be shown. There will also be auctions of "Doctor Who" memorabilia, a costume contest, and plenty of "Who"-related items for sale. And, of course, there should be plenty of other "Doctor Who" fans to meet.
Special guest will be Ian Marter, who played Harry Sullivan on the program and wrote the paperback novelization of one of the "Doctor Who" episodes as well. Also on hand will be Ron Katz, president of the Doctor Who Fan Club of North America.
It all takes place 11 a.m. to 7 p m. each day at the Holiday Inn, 4500 W. Cypress St. in Tampa, To get there, take 1.4 to Tampa, then take 1-275 South to Westshore Boulevard. Turn on Cypress Street.
Tickets are $9 a day in advance at Select-a-Seat outlets; $10 at the door.
