[edit]

DOCTOR Who will do battle with "Santa Claws" this Christmas.

The monsters in the festive special are Dream Crabs which will cause some scary moments for The Doc (Peter Capaldi, 56) and Clara (Jenna Coleman, 28).

In the episode called Last Christmas, the pair end up on a polar base and discover its scientists are being killed off by the alien beasties.

Scary

The show promises to put the frighteners up TV viewers on Christmas Day. Writer Steven Moffat said: "It will be scary."

But there will be light relief in the shape of Father Christmas, played by Nick Frost.

Actress Jenna told Dr Who Adventures mag: "It is about what's real and what isn't and about dreams. Father Christmas is in it — with elves! It's not your traditional Christmas but there are some traditional elements in there.

"There are monsters in it called the Dream Crabs — and they were quite funny to wear! Nick Frost is pretty funny, too!" Jenna denied she is leaving the show. Fans saw Clara quit travel last month's series finale following the shock death of her on-screen boyfriend Danny Pink.

But she added: "It was always the case that I was coming back. It's nice they get to travel more. The relationship doesn't end like that."
