[edit]

Two of the robot-like Daleks which pursued Dr Who through the vastness of time and across myriad galaxies have reached the end of their travels.

But instead of extermination the dome-headed villains with the hi-tech death-ray and armoured personal transport will go under the auctioneer's hammer 37 and are expected to fetch £2,000-£3,000.

The BBC's decision to put the Daleks up for sale comes more than two years after end of the last series featuring the often-rejuvenated Dr Who and his battered time-traveling police box, the Tardis.

Other costumes from the 27-year-old series will also feature in the sale, at Bonhams in central London on May 11.

Cybermen — pilots' uniforms sprayed silver — Sea Devils, Vervoid and the Chief Caretaker's uniform worn by actor Richard Briers will also be on offer.

The BBC denied the sale was the termination of the phoenix-like series.

Sir Duncan Chilcott, head of collections at Bonhams, said: "It is a great opportunity for a fan of Dr Who to own one of his or her own favourite monsters."
