Dr. Who: The Unfolding Text, by John Tulloch and Manuel Alvarado: Instead of game shows, it's "Dr. Who," the BBC space opera for kids, old and young. Not just any of the many Dr. Whos - only Tom Baker, the real one as far as I'm concerned. This vice led to my buying a book by two professors about the good doctor's - believe it or not - social significance. I really look at it for the logs of the programs and the bits of gossip the profs picked up.
