Both majored in math at UW-Madison, and both work for the same company, Wisconsin Physicians Service (she's a computer tester and he's a computer analyst). But they met on the corner of Park and Langdon streets.
Tracy Benton and Michael Shannon, both 23, are fans of "Doctor Who," a science fiction TV show. So when Tracy ran into Michael wearing a ruffled shirt and antique formal wear similar to those worn in the show, she was impressed.
"All we did was shake hands," says the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Benton.
The next time they met, Tracy and Michael were attending the same science-fiction convention. This time, they were dressed identically.
The couple were married June 3 in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Middleton. A bear and a penguin adorned the cake. Tracy collects penguins, and she says Michael, the son of Martin and Martha Shannon, is a "big cuddly guy."
After a week in Jamaica, they settled at 114 Village Green Lane. He likes to fence and Tracy says she's is "a dance aficionado."
