BBC bosses are planning to exterminate Ant and Dec in the ratings.
They are putting the first episode of the new Doctor Who series right up against ITV's Red Or Black. The opener, called Asylum Of The Daleks, features Matt Smith, 29, as the Time Lord and Arthur Darvill, 30, as Rory Williams.
It airs on Saturday September 1 at 7.20pm, which means it will go head-to-head against Ant and Dec's game show. Red Or Black started back on ITV last weekend and drew four million viewers, two million down on last year.
BBC chiefs hope an explosive first episode of Doctor Who featuring the biggest army of Daleks ever seen on TV will be a huge ratings puller. A source said: "The Daleks versus Ant and Dec the boys will be running for cover."
