Heart-throb looks for Mrs Right

HANDSOME hunk Frazer Hines, star of Emmerdale Farm, has never found his perfect woman. Which is why the 33-year-old heart-throb is still a bachelor.

And why he has to think for a minute before he decides that, of the two big passions in his life women and horses—women win by only a short head.

"I nearly married twice," he says. "Once I called it off, and once it was a mutual decision. For me marriage, when it happens, is for ever.

"Basically, I am the faithful type. I don't take one girl out when I am involved with another.

Marriage

"My affairs have lasted two or three years."

So why has he never taken the last big step into marriage?

"For years I have been looking for the perfect woman," he says.

"But if she exists it seems as if she must be looking for a perfect man, and that is just not me.

"My main fault is that I like to be on my own at times. A lot of girls would not be able to take that.

"I think that marriage could be a bit claustrophobic. I like to get home and pour myself a drink and put my feet up.

Sacrifice

"Sometimes I feel it would be nice to have someone around to ask what sort of a day I have had but, basically, I have a very happy life. People say that I must love my own company but I have some good friends. I am never on my own for long."

Marriage would mean a special sacrifice for Hines.

Welcoming a bride might mean having to say goodbye to his racehorse, Ingham, a chestnut gelding.

"I don't know if I could afford to keep Ingham as well as a family," he says.

Ingham has won 11 races and has his own bank account, which is comfortably in the black.

Hines keeps fit with lots of riding — and skipping.

Skips

He says: "I used to go jogging, but I got fed up with finding myself miles away from home and having to walk back.

"So I bought myself a skipping rope.

"It has a special gadget in the handle that counts the number of skips you do."

Hines has been playing Farmer Joe Sugden in Emmerdale Farm since the series began eight years ago.

Before that he was Dr Who's assistant in the Tardis.
