Dr. Who and his gorgeous assistant, Sarah Jane Smith, will soon be pitting their wits against the brain of Morbius. But in the meantime there is going to be a restful feet-up Christmas for Sarah.

And yesterday the Doctor, Liverpool actor Tom Baker, and Sarah (Elizabeth Sladen, usually called Liz), who is also from Liverpool, talked about their new series with Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

They were among a host of stars from stage and screen invited to a special Christmas celebration at 10 Downing Street.

BBC's next rendering of the science fiction adventure is a four part story called Brain of Morbius which starts on January 3.

"It's been great working on the new series but very tiring so I'm looking forward to put in my feet up and having a good rest at Christmas," said Liz.

"And for those people who want to watch the programme there's a special compilation called Genesis of the Daleks on December 27," she said

Liz, who joined the Dr. who series in 1973, is married and lives in London but she's coming home to Mossley Hill to spend Christmas with the family.

Tom Baker, who became the fourth Dr. Who when he took over from Jon Pertwee last year, was born in Fountains Road, Kirkdale, but has never appeared in the theatre in Liverpool.
