[edit]

THE last Doctor Who production in the UK will take place in Huntingdon at the Commeration Hall from November 10 - 12.

Huntingdon Drama Club has obtained rights to present an original stageplay The Empress of Othernow less than a month before the original Doctor Who rights are sold to Steven Spielberg.

The play, written by one of the club's members, tells the story of Doctor (Bob Pugh) and his assistant Gwen (Rachael Greves) arrival in London in 1969.

The pair are immediately captured by legionaries of the 2000-year-old Roman Empire ruled by the immortal God Empress (Maggie Redgrave).

When the Doctor realises the course of time has been changed he goes back in time to the Roman court where he has to face his old enemies — the Cybermen.

The show includes a range of special effects, including a dematerialising Tardis and a turbo lift.

Members have also borrowed two of the original BBC Cybermen costumes for the production.

Performances start at 7.30pm with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday.

Tickets, costing £4 and £2.50 for children and OAPs, are available from the Card Gallery, Huntingdon or telephone 381374.
