[edit]

Doctor Who's new assistant made a surprise early appearance in the first episode of the new series last night. Fans saw the character played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, right, trapped in the skeleton of a dalek — and seemingly doomed. The actress replaces Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan, as the Time Lord's companion.
