[edit]

Ever since Oregon Public Broadcasting began airing Doctor Who, we have been the recipient of the enthusiastic attentions and efforts of avid members of the Friends of the Doctor fan club and the Portland Science Fiction Society.

During the March pledge appeal, Festival '84, for example, 46 club members answered telephone pledges, working in nine shifts, one-and-a-half hours a day. For a promotional spot, friend Paul Grover lent us his full-scale mock-up of the Tardis, Doctor Who's space ship built on the lines of a British police call box. In addition, the fan club has contributed more than $200 to support public TV.

To see what inspires such loyalty, tune in to Doctor Who weeknights at 6:00.
