DYNASTY beauty, Kate O'Mara, has got a holiday job — playing a superbitch on the set of Britain's long-running adventures series, Dr Who.

And, says the British-born star, her Dynasty role as Joan Collins' sister was an excellent preparation for her battle with Dr Who as an evil time-traveller called The Rani.

It also enabled Kate, a fan of Dr Who, to meet the new doctor and his assistant, Sylvester McKoy and Bonny Langford.

That's Bonny on the left in our picture with Sylvester in the middle and Kate in her Rani gear and make-up on the right.

Kate flew to England for her Dr Who role believing that Dynasty was heading for the scrap heap.

But the day she turned up at the Dr Who studios for her first day on the set, was also the day she learnt that Dynasty will definitely be returning to US television screens next year.

It had been a close call because Dynasty had been falling in the ratings. But a late ratings boost put Dynasty back into the US top 20. It actually finished the season in 17th place ahead of Magnum.

In London, Kate said she was delighted that her job was safe and added: "If the series had finished I would have been very sad.

"It got me known in the States and also helped my bank balance considerably."
