The Dr. Who phenomenon comes under the microscope in "The Lively Arts" on BBC-2 tomorrow night.

The 50-minute documentary looks at the Time Lord's 13-year journey in what has become one of the most successful family shows

The documentary goes back to the very first episode on November 23, 1963, and is liberally illustrated with exploits of the four "Doctors" -- William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker.

William Hartnell fights off the dreaded Zarbis, Patrick Troughton protects the TARDIS from a hostile Krotons, Jon Pertwee defeats the Autons while Tom Baker confront Davros, creator of the Daleks.

The program looks behind the scenes at the Doctor's latest adventure and Philip Hinchcliffe, current producer, and Tom Baker discuss the programme with educational psychologist John Miller.
