[edit]

CREDIT manager Geoff Billingsley, 48, of Kempt Street, Woolwich Common, was eight-and-a-half years old on that fateful Friday. He vividly recalls his reaction when the news broke at around 7pm.

The father-of-two said: "Although I realised the enormity of the situation, I could not understand why the BBC cancelled The Harry Worth Show, due on at 7.30pm. The next day, the very first Dr Who was also delayed by some 17 minutes due to the continuing news coverage. I remember my mum crying, so I knew we had a problem. She hardly ever cried, God bless her."
