[edit]

BLESS my soul, if it isn't Dr Who rubbing shoulders with a vicar who looks suspiciously like screen veteran Nicholas Parsons.

Old Nick stars with the intrepid timelord when he sorts out a spot of World War Two foul play in The Curse Of Fenric, which begins next Wednesday.

But the dashing doctor, alias Sylvester McCoy, and his glamorous sidekick Ace, played by Sophie Aldred, are facing a much tougher battle in reality. The Beeb may now axe the popular 26-year-old series following the shock resignation of producer John Nathan-Turner.

There was a huge outcry when the show faced the chop four years ago. Its 110 million fans will be praying it survives again.
